PE and Sports Funding

The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils.

The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.

Purpose of Funding

We have been given freedom of how to use our school sports funding, but have been provided with a set of guidelines to support us in making the best use of our funds. Possible uses for the funding include:

  • hiring specialist qualified sports coaches to work alongside primary teachers when teaching PE.
  • funding continuous professional development opportunities in PE/Sport.
  • covering the cost of releasing primary teachers to attend training.
  • running sports competitions, or increasing participation in the school games.
  • increasing the quality of materials/resources which are used to teach and lead primary PE;
  • increasing the after-school opportunities for children of all ages and abilities.
  • improving children’s understanding of healthy eating and the advantages of exercise.
  • Unique experiences.

Unique Experiences

At Baines’,  learning extends far beyond the classroom walls.  Our students participate in a Unique Experience trip programme designed to open doors to opportunities they might not otherwise encounter.

These aren't just field trips; they are hands-on, immersive adventures—from exploring hidden natural wonders that build confidence, broaden perspectives, and ensure every child has access to activities that spark lifelong passions and dreams. Pupils thrive as they engage in hands-on activities that build real-world skills and curiosity.

Providing exceptional opportunities is at the heart of Baines’. We are proud to offer a dynamic schedule of "Experience Trips"—carefully curated excursions that bridge the gap between textbook knowledge and real-world involvement.Our pupils step out of the classroom and into specialised environments where they can tackle challenges like kayaking on open water, mastering the slopes while skiing, developing precision in archery, or testing their courage while climbing and abseiling. These trips also focus heavily on crucial life skills, including resilience and communication, through structured team-building activities.

By providing access to these unique and often high-cost activities often unavailable outside of school, we ensure every child gains confidence, discovers hidden talents, and acquires the diverse, practical experiences essential for success and personal growth.
