Baines’ and St Paul’s
Baines’ is a church school and we work very hard to promote good liaison between church and school. Over many years, we have forged very strong links with our local church – St Paul’s. The children (particularly in KS2) visit the church for regular services both as observers and as participants.
Family Partnerships
Excellent family relationships are invaluable to us at Baines’ and as such we encourage parental/wider family involvement in school, both in classrooms and in other aspects of school life. This is of great benefit to the pupils in that they see that their family also value school and the importance of their education. It also gives them access to people with skills, knowledge and understanding additional to that of the school staff. We have a PTFA who support school with fundraising for the children through events such as Chocolate Bingo, Christmas and Summer Fayres and other events throughout the year. At Baines’ we are fortunate that we have a ‘World of Work’ room and this is used for various aspects of Family Learning.
People who help us
At Baines’ we value the support of many people who work in our community. We regularly welcome our school nurse, the local PCSO, Marton Operatics, colleagues from local secondary schools, BCYW, the NSPCC, BFC and many other people who support with our curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities.
During transition periods, staff from high schools visit year six children in school. Children in years five and six visit local high schools, both to familiarise themselves with the situation and to make use of their more extensive resources. From time to time High school staff and students visit school to provide children with wider curriculum and extra-curricular experiences, e.g dance, music, drama and sport.
Volunteers/Students
We value the importance of nurturing and developing people’s skills in school, whatever their starting point. Volunteers and students from local further and higher education establishments are welcomed. All volunteers, students and visitors to our school need to have DBS clearance, (Criminal background check).
Community Outreach
We feel it is equally important that we also contribute to our community and develop the children’s understanding of giving and supporting others who are less fortunate. We do this by contributing to local, national and international charities and our choir regularly sings at the local hospital, nursing homes and church.
Our school is also used for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides / Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and some sports clubs..
